Level B
General Targets
I can point to the words in a book as I read (crisply)
I can use knowledge of syllables to help with pointing to words
I can search for and use information in pictures
I can read a sentence over more than one line of text
Targets about Solving Words
I can use the first letter in an unknown word to help me figure out the word
I can locate easy high frequency words in book
I can use both the meaning of the story and the visual information to help me figure out an unknown word
I go back and correct a word I read incorrectly if the meaning and words text don’t make sense
I can read 20 of the 42 Pre-Primer sight words
I can reread the sentence to problem solve, self-correct or confirm with help
Targets about Summarizing
I can remember what the story is about during reading
I can remember details while reading
I can remember important information to help me understand the end of the book with help
